Terahertz Polarimetric Sensing for Linear Encoder Based on a Resonant-Tunneling-Diode and CFRP polarizing plates

Abstract:

We report the first experimental results on the linear encoder based on a resonant-tunneling-diode (RTD) and a periodic linear array of carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) plates as a scale. By using polarization dependent reflection signal, we were able to detect the incremental position in a non-contact manner.
