Shun Tonooka

Shun received his Ph.D. in Physics from Osaka University in Japan. He joined Hitachi Ltd in 2007 and focused on studying magnetic recording media for HDD and sputtering magnetic thin films, and later moved to a Western Digital Company to continue his work on HDDs. In 2016, he joined Mitsubishi Electric and worked on new applications of magnetic technology, such as magnetic particle imaging, magnetic cooling system, and superconducting magnets. Prior to joining MERL, he was the Senior Manager of the Electromechanical System Department.
